The first shot I thought it malfunctioned. The 74 brake is very effective, yes. I used to use a 74 in three gun, some casual matches we used to put on at our local range. With addition of a new trigger and a little practice I used to piss off the AR shooters with my $177 SAR2 and that's the entire reason I used it.
