It can be annoying in DOS1 to have a 95% chance of stunning an enemy and still missing. DOS2's combat is less RNG-based in that respect, but in some ways it was more fun making use of environmental effects in the first game. Also, the ability to respec in the first game comes very late, and is much more restrictive than DOS2's.
