Anything below that or within those respective weapon classes are purely personal preference (except pkcs lkss) as the rest of the weapons (all weapons below) lack the same R1 mashing potential with high speed, tracking and reach with minimal effort.

The only tier list I could find was a weapon tier list, but it also seems fairly out dated, about two years old. Is that current? Or is there something more up to date?

The reasoning is that you can generally beat the PVE content with just about anything, whereas if you are invading people and getting 3v1 ganked as is usually the case, it may be worth using something a little more optimised to have a fighting chance.
