First of all, I'll respond to my question : one can perfectly play on Path of the Damned difficulty with story companions. It's a bit harder than with custom characters but perfectly doable if you know what you are doing and stay consistent in the talents an Eder is better as multi. Xoti is probably best as single priest. Aloth is great as both single wizard and any multi. Serafen is probably best as single barb. I hate wild mind. Tekehu is good with anything, single class is easier to build but the obsidian forums have a very strong druid/chanter power build.
