If you're choosing to put on directly after each station, you don't need the merger rail also subdivided into multiple tiny blocks, especially when no train could fit in blocks that small. Just make the exit/merge section one block as no train will leave the station unless it can actually get all the way out.Plus it's an electric locomotive, which generally means it has a third rail or overhead lines.
