The TECS (assuming VKB lives up to it's usual standards) will be a solid, durable, excellently engineered bit of kit. It'll be better than mainstream manufacturers' throttles in the same way that VKB sticks are better than mainstream manufacturers' sticks. I'd expect TECS to be as good as or better than Virpil's throttles and they're pretty good!

Decisions would be easier to make without time and money limitations. Of course, VKB helps make the decision by not releasing this throttle any time soon. No VKB throttle, no possibility of building a dedicated Soviet pit or a 2nd generic interchangeable pit to complement my current F-4 styled arrangement.

Hi, at this point TECs is next on VKB’s release schedule (after some smaller addons for NXT system like German throttle handle, angled “omnithrottle” adapter etc.). So if you have a working throttle, and since there’s nothing really better until you hit the CM3 (except the WinWing Orion), at this point it really is worth waiting.

Yes, the idea in TECS is allow exchange throttle grips like is done in VKB bases that accept multiple VKB joystick grip (KG-12-B, SCG, MCG, F-14). I finally gave up some time ago and got a Virpil CM3 Throttle. And then earlier this year got the Virpil base and Alpha Prime grip and using it now rather than my Gunfighter Mk III.

Buy the THQ (and Gladiator NXT) now. Wait for the THQ to come out with the WWII model. Screw all that and wait for the TECs throttle. I'm planning on playing space sims (mostly Freespace 2, I grew up on that game) and DCS, and more casual games like ace combat and Star Wars Squadrons. I have a VR headset so I'm not looking to add head tracking.

The base looks very similar to the Gladiator, yet the side panels don't seem to be detachable and they're a different shape, I hope you're working on a base that we can connect GNX modules to.
