As a dude who egr deleted his 89 22re I am concerned that more people aren’t saying go for it. Mine runs fine but I also had concerns before the delete. My truck doesn’t “ping”. My reasoning was the same as yours, I had old crappy rubber lines and didn’t want anymore spontaneous vacuum leaks when diagnosing other issues.
