Tail end up, insert trigger into trigger guard from an angle. Snap the takedown lever into place, then push down on the tail end and it should snap into place at the beavertail. Insert pin. Yep this was the problem. The takedown safety level hooks around a little pin in the rear end of the FCU. This little pin is what move the sear up/down.
