Basically Walther sent over parts and Smith Wesson made the frame and slide here in the USA . This agreement happened around the time the Smith Wesson Sigma SW9F lawsuit with Glock occured.Seeing as his serial number start with 030xxx and the earliest serial number to date is 031xxx with a date of 1-28-1983 on that site, he's most likely got a circa 1981-82 PPKS. No, your pistol does not have the regular Walther markings. it says "Under License of Carl Walther" and it was made in the USA by Interarms, which previously imported German made Walthers. After Interarms took over manufacture of the PPK in the US, they used a K as a prefix on their PPK serial numbers.
