It definitely prevents crabgrass, but not as many other things as Tenacity does. Either is fine. Scotts makes the starter fertilizer with Tenacity in it, too. I'd get whichever is more cost effective. They last for 4-6 weeks. Again, Tenacity prevents a lot more weed types if that sways you. I'd try to seed within the next 3 weeks.

I’m just so pleased with the tenacity approach. I also see a benefit of a light app of starter fert again after week 2. However if using a starter fert with mesotrione that wouldn’t be suggested as label states I believe 28 days from germ for 2nd app. So using tenacity allows for 2 lighter shots of stater without overdoing the meso.
