Both Swashbuckler and pure Fighter are incredibly tanky, especially at late levels. My advice would be to go 2-h (maybe something interesting like a pollaxe) rather than sword and board. The Fighter's best feature is its ability to turn Might into defensive healing. I've run Eder as a pure Rogue before and imo he underperforms.
