Another app you could use is SA Companion. An advanced feature on both apps is to input the weapon your using. As Pipinghot mentioned above it says how many tranq arrows or darts you'll need but this is for 100% weapon damage. If your using say a mastercraft crossbow with 220% damage it will be considerably less arrows.
Does anyone know of a way to increase the amount of torpor a vanilla arrow or dart does via the .ini files? I run a modded server with high level modded dinos and the amount of torpor produced by each is far too weak to be of any use, it would take hundreds of tranq arrows to KO a ptera, I'd rather avoid adding more mods with new tranqs if possible so if there's any way to do this without also ...To tame a low lvl simply shoot it with your x-bow and tranq arrows. My tribemate or I will shoot tranq darts to instantly raise torpor, while the other shoots tranq arrows to keep that torpor rising at a steady pace. The reason you have to use a tranq arrows on a Giga is cause tranq arrows apply most of their torpor over a long period of time and the crossbow and compound bow both have a much faster reload than the long neck. Crossbow is around 77%. I put this down to the amount of damage that is caused by the weapon unto your animals. Test it for your self.
