Hi everyone, I am a Canadian FM resident - and I am interested in pursuing a dermatology residency in the United States, and I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me in terms of how to go about it.

I think if you're sincerely interested in joining med/derm twitter, and won't get cringed out by the circle jerk of desperate applicants and out-of-touch, virtue-signaling program directors, then go ahead.Topical is the OG derm podcast and is really geared towards medical students pursuing dermatology. Hosts are Arash Mostaghimi of Harvard Med-Derm and Kris Liu, formerly of Harvard and now with Kaiser Permanente. Start from the beginning and listen all the way through. More recent episodes are geared towards various practice models of dermatology.

There were 6 different interview panels throughout the day, each of which had 2 members of faculty on them. Applicants had 2 interviews each, so naturally they would only ever encounter 2/6 of the panels. Every faculty member was given a rough scoresheet on how to assess applicants, but no 'coaching' was given on how to fairly give these scores.

The APD and its credibility to enforce guidelines that affect the match. Was reading the spreadsheet after the dust settled from this past cycle as many of you probably have been. Desperately needs to change to emphasize a few high quality publications, and being first or second author or 2+ in a high impact journal. Yes it does matter, if it’s high impact even better. Most of my app research was in the field of pathology which is somewhat related to derm. Main downside I know about my application is that I did not have enough derm research items due to combination of deciding on derm late and reserach year being cut short by COVID/ having to switch between mentors (only 11-12 items, ~7 derm related). Been using minox for 3 months and 3 weeks and started derma rolling using a 0.5 roller 2 months ago. My temple hairs all recovered and now its just a matter of waiting for those short hairs in front get a good length.It obviously won't hurt you, but most places rarely sit there and read each persons MSPE. What they will likely do is quickly glance it over to see where you ranked if your school reports out ranking or percentiles.
