there are only a small number of heli crash items (22). There are 3 heli crashes at once with 10 max loot items per crash. None of the heli crash weapons have a server max. Ideally you won't see non heli-crash items there, but I've seen posts about finding other items so can't be 100% sure. There are many more barracks, but they are divided up ...
In some mods of the mod there were helis that fly and transmit mayday before they crash and I really hated that feature. If there is a helicopter flying there must be a player controlling it. If there is a message on the radio - a player must be transmitting it. That is what DayZ about. If you want SOS messages - transmit them yourself.
