From 1999 to 2001, Gary attended Institute of American Indian Arts where he studied painting under Norman Akers. He served in the US Army from 2004 to 2010 after which he apprenticed and worked as a tattoo artist in Arizona and California. Gary draws from all these experiences when creating his work in acrylic and mixed media.
