Idk why the M18 scratches so easily, I really wish Sig chose a different finish then the Coyote PVD. They should've just cerakoted the M17/M18 line in Coyote Tan. Mind you I take good care of all my firearms and my M18 seems to be scratch prone compared to my other gun finishes.
