TIFTON — Tift County has been chosen to receive $53,225 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. The Emergency Food and Shelter Program is a restricted federal grant designed to provide supplemental funds for agencies that provide supportive services for people in need of emergency assistance, United Way of South-Central Georgia representatives said in a statement.
The Tift County area has no animal rescue agencies, but Tift County Animal Control recently established Save Our Pets, a non-profit which uses grants to assist with spay and neuter clinics that help control the feral animal population.
