The rattlebones robe and the darkmoor robe are right on par with each other. On my fire, I got tired of farming darkmoor so I just use the rattlebones robe. A good substitute for the hat is krokopatras Fez, and a decent substitute for the boots comes from Meowiarty exalted. Hope this helps, Ryan Bearstalker 125. more.

It's OK to flee and return before you defeat the first form, but once you do, stay. You can get two top tier drops in one run if you are lucky.

Devs have stated they will be moving gear across bosses found throughout their respective world, and Merciless gear drop rates will be buffed back to before the spring update was dropped. If you need Merciless athame or amulet, I would highly recommend you farm Hall of Heroes before they move those pieces to Power Draconian in Heap.
